THE SERIOUSLY UNSERIOUS KATE
Let’s get real for just a second…
I’ve tried to start a blog more times than I can count. You’d think that after a few attempts,
I’d either get it right or accept my fate as the world’s least committed blogger.
Spoiler alert: I still have commitment issues, so don't get your hopes up.
With that said, welcome to Seriously Unserious
I’m Kate, your guide through the chaotic wonders of work, family, life stuff and the occasional existential crisis. Having just joined the fabulous 40s 💃 I’m officially here to share my chaotic and unserious thoughts while juggling a 5-year-old, two giant, cuddly dogs who are as sharp as a bag of rocks, and a life that’s about as organized as a toddler’s toy box. (You literally never know what you'll find, amirite?)
For work, I'm a professional Matchmaker and Certified Life Coach. My credentials? Well, aside from the professional certification, I've literally been through it all. Loss. Trauma. Divorce. Crazy life stuff. And I’ve been on over 100 first dates. Yes, you read that right—100! My dating life was like a reality show but with more awkward silences and zero actual camera crews aside from the one guy who brought his mom along to take pictures... We'll get to that, eventually. Thankfully, I’m off the market now, which means I can spill the tea on all those dating misadventures and the lessons learned.
When I'm not working or doing the "mom thing" you’ll find me stress-baking and whipping around the kitchen like a true culinary ninja. Cooking is my therapy, and I’m convinced that a pinch of salt and a dash of whatever-this-spice-mix-is can cure anything. Don’t ask me to flip a perfectly round pancake, and we're golden.
I’m an avid reader and right now fantasy novels are my jam—shout out to Sarah J. Maas for providing me an escape hatch from the real world (hello booktok)—and a music lover who appreciates everything from sleepy classical piano to smoky jazz to literally-what-are-they-saying headbangers and of course, indie and folk! Like many elder Millennials, I went through a rebellious phase that involved blasting angsty 90's rock while driving too fast, and I still say words like "rad" and "cool" which I'm told is cringe.
Speaking of speed, let’s not forget my love of thrills. I love to drive fast, but alas, my days of joyriding are on hold now that I have a little backseat driver reminding me that "red means stop, Mom". I remind myself daily that I used to be edgy, cool or what are they saying now --- I had rizz? Don't misunderstand me - ya girl still has it, but it's just buried underneath anxiety, three cups of coffee and Zoom meetings.
You'll learn more as we go. I promise that, at the very least, it'll be worth a laugh or two.
So, buckle up as we navigate this wild ride together! From dating disasters to parenting pitfalls and everything in between, I promise to keep it real, relatable, and a little ridiculous. Because if life gives you lemons, you might as well make a cocktail, right? Or a mocktail, since it's 2024 and we're old now and we have to work in the morning.
Here’s to the chaos, the laughter, and maybe even some life lessons along the way.
xoxo Kate 🦄✨
